Roblox To Debut PS AI Tools To Create Worlds

(CTN News) – Roblox (RBLX.N), a video game company, plans to launch its immersive digital worlds platform on Sony’s (6758.T) PlayStation devices in October, giving it access to the hundreds of millions of people who own one of the world’s most popular gaming consoles.

Additionally, Roblox will also make its app fully available on Meta’s (META.O) Quest mixed reality devices this month after rolling out a test version of the app in July.

The company announced in a blog post that the version of the software was downloaded more than a million times within five days of its release.

In an interview with Reuters this week, Roblox Chief Product Officer Manuel Bronstein explained that the expansion is part of a plan to make Roblox available in all forms, including mobile, desktop, augmented reality and virtual reality (AR/VR) devices.

This is part of a plan to make Roblox available to users “anywhere they try to use it,” he said.

Bronstein said, “I wonder if we should be on every TV in the country.”.

One of the most popular games for children is Roblox,

Which has 66 million daily users, most of whom are teenagers and is closely monitored by tech giants like Meta as they try to entice the next generation of users to the platform.

It has been difficult for Meta’s similar “metaverse” service Horizon, where users appear as avatars and can gather in virtual spaces, to gain the same momentum as its forerunners. An article in the Wall Street Journal reported that the service had fewer than 200,000 monthly users as of last year.

The game Horizon is currently available only in VR, although Meta said in February that it was planning to release web and mobile versions in the near future, without providing a specific date.

Roblox recently announced that it plans to roll out by the end of the year an AI-powered world-building chatbot by the end of the year.

According to a demo shown to Reuters, developers will be able to use the chatbot – which closely resembles an earlier tool previewed by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg last year – to generate virtual objects and scenes on command, without having to code them, thanks to the chatbot.

According to Meta, its technology, which has not yet been released, is based on voice commands rather than written chats.

Roblox is also due to release a new tool later this year that will make it possible for mobile and desktop users of the game to conduct voice calls with their Roblox friends appearing as avatars.

As part of this technology, called Connect, the device’s camera is used to capture a participant’s facial expressions and body movements, which are then displayed on screen through the avatar of the participant.
