DSV Adds Arizona Flights To Reduce Semiconductor Lead Times

(CTN News) – The Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport has been added to the DSV fleet of freighters as part of the company’s effort to reduce lead times for semiconductor shipments by avoiding the more congested airports in the area.

There will be new Boeing 747 freighter flights operated by Atlas Air as part of DSV’s air charter network, and it is the first regular air cargo charter service in the area to use the Boeing 747 freighter.

According to DSV, the flights will connect with Latin America as well as Europe.

Aside from that, DSV will also be able to use a leased air cargo hangar and will be able to provide ground handling equipment of its own.

A forwarder told the newspaper that the new service will help support the semiconductor industry in Arizona, as well as make it easier for cargo to move by avoiding congested airports in other areas.

As DSV Air & Sea’s president in the US, Niels Larsen said: “We are seeing a lot of industrial development in Arizona at the moment, and I think that is a considerable development.

Considering this, the area is a very strategic place for us to be, which is why we are now putting into place new air charter routes so we can expand our operations in the area even further.

It is our hope that these new services will enable DSV to offer more routes to Latin America and Mexico in the future.

Moreover, it will have a very strong strategic importance for our ability to serve customers in the semiconductor segment because it plays perfectly into our strategy of using tier two airports to avoid long lead times, and it will also have a very strong strategic importance for our ability to serve customers in the semiconductor segment.”

As part of the efforts to cater for the semiconductor industry, DSV announced the launch of the new service soon after announcing the acquisition of US logistics firms S&M Moving Systems West and Global Diversity Logistics.

It is no coincidence that both companies were founded by the same family and are based in Arizona.

It is a company that operates across 11 sites in Oregon and Arizona and employs a total of 130 employees.

It is noted that the firms provide services within the domestic road freight industry, international air and sea freight, warehousing, trade show logistics, and specialist solutions to support the semiconductor manufacturing industry.
