Veteran US Pilot Michael McLellan Found Dead in Chiang Mai By Apparent Suicide
CHIANG MAI – Police in Chiang Mai have reported that, Michael McLellan, 62, a former U.S. pilot and flight engineer committed suicide yesterday, July 25th, at his residence in Wat Gate in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
A Chiang Mai city police investigation revealed that the deceased was suffering from several illnesses which allegedly caused great stress, leading to his suicide.
The police did not release any information on how he killed himself, however they did say foul play was not suspected. His body will be transferred to Bangkok for an post-mortem examination.
Chiang Mai Police have contacted the United States Embassy in Bangkok to notify his family.
Meanwhile, a missing 23-year-old Canadian man, Salih Kaled was found dead in the sea off Koh Chang in the eastern province of Trat on Sunday evening, tourist police reported.
He went swimming at the beach in front of the hotel about 6 pm, police said.
Hotel staff suspected something may be wrong when he did not come back to shore, and reported his disappearance about 7pm. A search by rescue volunteers, police and the navy found his body in the sea around 8.40pm.
His death was reported to the Canadian embassy. A post-mortem examination was under way.
