Two Mild Earthquakes Felt in Mae Lao District of Chiang Rai
CHIANG RAI – Nikornchai Popluechai, chief of the Chiang Rai quake monitoring center, has reported that 2 minor earthquakes hit Mae Lao District of Chiang Rai, late Tuesday evening.
The first quake had a magnitude of 2.7 and happened at the depth of 2 kilometers, with its epicenter located in a rice field 7 or 8 kilometers southwest of the popular Wat Rong Khun (White Temple) in Phan District.
The second quake, with the magnitude of 1.6, happened at the depth of 3 kilometers not far from the first one.
The bureau said local villagers felt the tremor but no damage was reported.
