It’s recommended those who buy used clothes to disinfect them first
– As cold weather approaches in the northern parts of Thailand the Ministry of Public Health has advised people in the North to thoroughly wash and disinfect second hand-clothes before wearing them.Permanent Secretary for Publich Health Dr. Narong Sahamethapat also said people in the North and Northeast should be prepared for winter as the temperatures are expected to drop sooner than other regions.
He also recommended those who bought used clothes to disinfect them first. Imported clothes can spread skin diseases caused by lice and bacteria.
They should be washed in hot water with the temperature higher than 60 degrees Celsius for more than one hour and dried in the sun before wearing.
Shoppers of used clothes are also told to wear a face mask when buying these items to protect themselves against any airborne diseases.
Meanwhile, Commander of the Third Army Region Lt. Gen. Sathit Pitrat on Saturday visited the Pha Muang Task Forces to get an update on their operations.
During the visit, Lt. Gen. Sathit also traveled to Mae Fa Luang District in Chiang Rai province, where he handed out 500 blankets to residents of Tambon Thoet Thai who have been suffering from the drop in temperatures.
The Third Army chief said the blankets are particularly needed for people residing along the border region, where there is reportedly a short supply of winter clothing.According to the General, the Royal Thai Army has collaborated with both state and private agencies to procure weighted blankets for those in need.
