BURIRAM – Parents have come forward with evidence to take legal action against a PE teacher accused of sexually harassing a 15-year-old student. They also claim the teacher used grades to pressure students, saying those with incomplete or failing marks had to meet him in private if they wanted to fix them.
On March 22, reporters received a complaint from the family of a middle school student at a school in Buriram province. The parents said their daughter had been harassed by the PE teacher several times, even in public areas.
In one case, they said it happened while she was sitting with friends near the cafeteria. The family had already handed over chat records and video evidence to school administrators, but they said nothing moved forward.
The student, a 15-year-old 9th-grader identified as A, said through tears that the teacher had tried to harass her many times since she was in 8th grade. She said he often sent suggestive messages through Line.
Teacher Touched Her Chest
The most serious incident, according to her, happened when he sat beside her and touched her chest while she was with friends. She said she felt trapped because it happened in an open area, in front of others, and one of her friends was so shocked she could only lower her head onto the table.
She also said other students had faced similar behavior, but most stayed silent because they were afraid. According to her, the teacher had threatened students by saying they would not pass their exams. She decided to speak out because she feared more girls could become victims.
The girl’s mother said her daughter is now deeply afraid and barely wants to go to school on days when PE is on the schedule. She learned about the problem after her daughter showed her the chat messages.
When she asked for more details, her daughter could only cry. She said her child’s mental state has become very fragile. The mother added that her daughter had already reported the issue to a teacher when she was in 8th grade, but the matter disappeared without action.
Her father, 50-year-old Sant, said he learned from his daughter and her friends that the PE teacher often intimidated students. He claimed the teacher would leave students with incomplete grades or zeros, then tell them they had to meet him in private if they wanted those marks corrected. Because of that, some students were too scared to ask for help, and some were unable to complete their studies.
Parents Want Teacher Prosecuted
He said he wants the teacher prosecuted and removed from teaching. He also claimed the teacher had faced similar complaints before, but those cases reportedly ended in private settlements. After that, he said, the teacher returned to the classroom and continued the same behavior, acting as if no one could stop him.
The father also said he believes this pattern has gone on for years. Based on what he has heard, he estimated that more than 100 students may have been affected. He alleged that students who gave in were allowed to graduate, while those who refused were left with unresolved incomplete or failing grades.
The family has now submitted all evidence to investigators at Lam Plai Mat Police Station. They are also calling on the relevant agencies to step in quickly, especially to help students who still have incomplete or failing marks so they can resolve their records without fear.
The case remains sensitive, and the school and the accused PE teacher have not yet publicly responded. Any further updates will depend on the official investigation and statements from those involved.
