BANGKOK – A grandmother turned to the Pavena Foundation for Children and Women after her 10-year-old grandson, a fourth-grade student at a school in the Nuanchan area of Bangkok, said he had been sexually abused by a male teacher.
The accused, a 52-year-old history teacher, was later taken into custody. Police said they found a large amount of pornographic video material during a search of his home. He now faces serious charges, and investigators plan to bring him before the court on March 19.
At about 5:00 p.m. on March 18, 2026, Pavena Hongsakul, president of the Pavena Hongsakul Foundation for Children and Women, accompanied the boy and his grandmother to meet officers at Khok Khram Police Station. They gave more information to investigators after police arrested the suspect.
The case began when the grandmother asked the foundation for help. She said her grandson had told her that his male homeroom teacher often called him to the teachers’ room around midday, when no one else was there.
According to the child, the teacher showed him pornographic videos, talked to him about sex, then took off his pants and forced the boy to touch his genitals until he reached sexual release. The boy said this had been happening for nearly a year.
In time, the child could no longer keep it inside. He told his grandmother he didn’t want to go to school anymore. He said he couldn’t eat and felt like vomiting because the images stayed in his head all the time.
The grandmother also said that on March 5, 2026, her grandson told her he wanted to jump into the water and end his life. That warning shocked her, so she asked what had happened. Only then did she learn about the abuse and quickly sought help from the foundation.
She added that her grandson also spoke about another boy from a different classroom who had allegedly been called in by the same teacher and had been hugged and kissed on the cheek. The child insisted he was telling the truth.
He even told his grandmother that if adults didn’t believe him, they should check the teacher’s laptop because there would be many porn videos on it. Even after what happened, the boy said he liked school and didn’t want to miss class. He only wanted that teacher gone so he could return safely.
After receiving the complaint, Pavena coordinated with senior Metropolitan Police officers and Khok Khram Police Station. Foundation staff then took the grandmother and the boy to file a formal report, and the child was interviewed through a multidisciplinary process. Police said the 10-year-old gave a clear and consistent statement.
Later, investigators gathered enough evidence to request a search of the teacher’s home. During the search, police said they found a large number of pornographic clips. Officers then brought the teacher in for questioning. He reportedly confessed during the initial investigation.
Police have charged him with committing an indecent act against a child under 13, along with violations under the Computer Crime Act related to possession of obscene material. He will be prosecuted under the law, and police are preparing to request his detention in court on March 19.
Pavena said cases involving sexual abuse of schoolboys have become a serious concern, both in schools and in other places. Because of that, she moved quickly to coordinate with the police, which led to the arrest. She also said the foundation will work with the Department of Rights and Liberties Protection under the Ministry of Justice so the child can receive compensation.
In addition, she plans to contact Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration officials to push for stronger steps that can help prevent abuse from happening again in schools.
For the boy’s safety, his grandmother has already transferred him to a school under the Office of the Basic Education Commission. The foundation will also continue working with the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security to follow up on support for the child.
