Narcotics Suppression Police Take Down Drug Trafficker in Phayao

In a search, they found 15 sacks covered with a canvas on the back of the pick-up truck. The sacks contained many packages containing a total of 4.2 million speed pills.

PHAYAO – Narcotics suppression police seized a large quantity of methamphetamine pills and arrested a Hmong man in Phu Sang district of Phayao province late on Wednesday night.

Pol Lt Col Amnuay Intarangsi, of Phu Sang police, said acting on a tip-off a team of about 10 police from Bangkok-based Narcotics Suppression Bureau stopped a pick-up truck for a search in front of Ban Huak School in tambon Phu Sang.

The driver tried to flee by speeding away, and police shot out the truck’s tyres, forcing the vehicle to stop.

The police arrested the driver, a Hmong man of Ban Pha Chang Noy of Phayao’s Pong district.  In a search, they found 15 sacks covered with a canvas on the back of the pick-up truck.  The sacks contained many packages containing a total of 4.2 million speed pills.

Pol Lt Col Amnuay said NSB police had followed the movement of a drug trafficking ring for over a month and learned that a huge delivery of methamphetamine pills would be made from tambon Tap Tao in Thoeng district of Chiang Rai along a route through Phu Sang district of Phayao.

NSB police lay in wait in front of Ban Huak School and intercepted the vehicle delivering the drugs. –  Bangkok Post
