Fortnite: How Darth Vader’s Lightsaber Works

Fortnite is bringing some of the franchise’s most popular items back to the fray this week, despite just wrapping up a major Star Wars event last month. As well as getting your hands on the fun (although not exactly precise) E-11 blasters once again, you’ll also be able to find and wield Darth Vader’s lightsaber. To accomplish this, however, we need to have a showdown, so let’s go over it in detail.

How and where to find Darth Vader’s lightsaber

You will need to find and defeat Vader before you can gather his iconic red lightsaber. In addition to the villain, two loyal Stormtroopers spawn randomly across the map. He can be seen flying around before you jump off the battle bus, so you have a pretty good idea of where he will be. The bright blue light will indicate his location once he lands.

The force can be used to pull you into close quarters to deal out the pain as Vader throws his lightsaber. Strap in for a war of attrition, too, since he can block your shots as well. Be sure to grab a Stormtrooper’s E-11 blaster to use against him so that you can conserve your ammo from your other guns, and bring some healing items along. You can claim Vader’s lightsaber after he goes down.

Lightsabers can be thrown like boomerangs and used to unleash medium-range aggression, as well as to deal some serious damage in melee range. Most importantly, it can block incoming fire for a time, giving you some much-needed defense if you’re caught in the open.

As part of the Fortnite update this week, reality saplings received a significant nerf, reducing the number of higher-tier seeds that spawn on trees, as well as a new Looking for Party feature.
