Dying Light 2 Beginners Guide: Cooperation, Repairing Weapons, and More
Now that Dying Light 2 is out, there is plenty to see and do, with 500 hours of content.
Upon opening the map, you will find that it’s filled with activities that you normally only see in games like Far Cry or Assassin’s Creed. There are also windmills to climb, inhibitors to find, districts to free, and hiding places to discover.
Naturally, there is a storyline for you to follow, but you will inevitably get distracted by some of these optional missions, and you might even need to complete some of them to improve your combat skills.

How to Repair Weapons in ‘Dying Light 2’
Dying Light 2 does not allow you to repair degradable items, but you can increase their lifespan.
You will also patch up a weapon when installing mods on it (to alter its stats or infuse it with elemental damage). You can see the durability bar for whatever you are upgrading on the right-hand side of the crafting menu. Once you install a mod, it will fill up to about 20%.
However, each weapon can only be modified a certain number of times (three in this case) before all its upgrade slots have been used. Therefore, eventually, you will run out of opportunities to repair your gear, and it will wear out.
Like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, this is presumably to encourage you to experiment with different load-outs throughout the game and not become too dependent on just one weapon.
How to Fast Travel in ‘Dying Light 2’
Dying Light 2‘s fast travel system will be a welcome addition considering its zombie-infested world. A fun explanation is provided in-universe since you’re essentially using the subway tunnels to get around (a similar concept appeared in We Happy Few).
Aiden can’t just appear anywhere on the map without putting in some work first. You must clear out the infected and bandits living in the metro stations around Old Villedor if you want to travel freely.
Following your exploration of the dungeon environment, you will have to complete a small traversal challenge (often against the clock) to activate the metro station’s power generator.
You will then be able to use it as a fast travel point in the future. Open your map and then hover your cursor over the metro tunnel icon to use this feature. You will then see a prompt telling you to hold down the contextual button (square on PlayStation).
How to Invite Friends to Play ‘Dying Light 2’ Co-Op
You can invite your friends to help you play Dying Light 2 if you are all playing on the same console (or PC).
Launch the game itself and then open the pause menu. Here, choose “Online Menu,” which is the third option on the list.
You can adjust various settings that determine who can join your campaign here. The “Game Type” setting might need to be tweaked. Here are some options:
- Single Player
- Public (Enabling anyone to join)
- Friends Only
- Private (Even friends require an invite to join)
So long as you haven’t selected “Single Player,” you should be able to invite friends to your Dying Light 2 game using your platform’s network tools. Dying Light 2 Online Menu includes a dedicated “Friends” tab.
How to Increase Health and Stamina in ‘Dying Light 2’
In Dying Light 2, you will be relatively weak and defenseless at first. You can gradually improve your health and stamina by finding inhibitors (of which there are 126).
Most of these collectibles can be found in GRE containers. Your access key tool will alert you if one of these is in your vicinity. An “inhibitor container detected” voice notification will be played, and then a small icon will appear in the bottom left corner of the screen.
It also provides a distance reading, telling you how far away the inhibitor is and whether you are heading in the right direction.
