The victim, whose name has been withheld for her privacy, traveled to the iconic street with friends to celebrate the Thai New Year. What was meant to be a night of joy quickly dissolved into a nightmare when she encountered a group of men with short-cropped hair. According to the victim’s testimony, the men were heard referring to each other by military ranks such as “Sergeant” and “Lieutenant.”
As the night progressed, one member of the group—later identified as a private in the military—repeatedly attempted to invite the teenager back to his accommodation. Despite her clear refusals, the suspect persisted. At approximately 11:00 PM, while the victim was walking to a restroom alone, the suspect allegedly followed her.
As she entered the restroom, the man reportedly forced his way inside, locking the door behind them. The victim claims that when she resisted his advances, the assailant began to choke her, issuing a chilling death threat: “Don’t scream, or I’ll kill you.”
Evidence suggests that passersby may have heard the struggle. When someone knocked on the door to check on the noise, the suspect reportedly shouted back that “nothing was wrong,” effectively silencing the victim’s chance for an immediate rescue.
Family Seeks Justice Amid Legal Fears
Following the traumatic ordeal, the girl managed to contact her brother and sought help from local authorities. A formal complaint was lodged at approximately 1:00 AM. However, the family has expressed deep concern regarding the police response.
According to the victim’s mother, referred to in local media as Mrs. Kai, the police initially suggested that the case might have to be settled in a military court. She told Thairath Online that the authorities seemed to lean toward mediation or a settlement rather than a rigorous criminal prosecution.
“My daughter is only 15. She went out to have fun with friends, and this happened in a public place,” Mrs. Kai stated. “The world is becoming too barbaric. The fact that the perpetrator is a soldier, someone who should protect people, makes this even more painful.”
