In Malaysia, PUBG Global Series 1 Pits Top Teams Against Each Other

(CTN News) – There is a new international PUBG tournament taking place right now.

PUBG Global Series 1 (PGS 1) is being hosted at the Battle Arena Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur by the South Korean video game holding company Krafton starting from April 27 until May 7.

The PGS 1 will be held in a local area network (LAN) setup, contrary to last year’s PUBG Continental Series that was held online in four different regions around the world.

PGS points and US$500,000 prize pool are the highlights of PUBG Global Series 1

There are eight teams competing for a share of the US$500,000 prize pool and PGS points, which will be used for qualifying for the PUBG Global Championship (PGC) 2023, which will take place in China.

The eight Global Partner Teams, as well as the 16 squads that qualified from regional tournaments, will be divided into three groups of eight squads for the group stage, which is set to take place from April 27 to 29.

There will be six matches per day at the group stage of PUBG Global Series 1 in the form of group matchups. During the first day, Groups A and B will meet, Groups B and C will meet, and Groups C and A will meet on the second day.

The top 16 teams will advance out of each of the groups to the finals bracket, while the bottom eight teams will be sent to the losers bracket after participating in the group stage.

As part of the winners bracket, six matches will be played per day between April 30 and May 1. It will be the top eight teams that will advance to the grand finals, while the eight teams in the losers bracket will fight for their lives against the eight teams in the bottom half.

The top eight from the losers bracket will compete in six matches per day, starting on May 2 to 3, in order to reach the grand finals, while the other eight will be eliminated from the tournament.

During the grand finals, fans will have the opportunity to watch a total of 18 exciting matches that will take place from May 5 to 7. The team with the highest overall ranking will be crowned champions of the first season of PUBG Global Series 1, taking home US$80,000 in prize money and 200 points in the PGS.

With the start of the first season of the PUBG Global Series, a new points system will be implemented. In PGS 1 and PGS 2, which will be held in the second half of the year, the top 16 teams will be awarded PGS points based on their final rankings at the end of each season.

A spot in the year-end PUBG Global Championship 2023 will be secured by the four teams with the most PGS points at the end of the season. The PGS points are separate from the PGC points that are granted in regional competitions, and they will not be combined with one another.
