Aquiris, A Horizon Chase Developer, Is Acquired By Epic Games

(CTN News) – Aquiris, the developer behind Horizon Chase, has announced it has been acquired by Epic Games. This is now the basis of Epic Games Brazil, the publisher’s first studio in Brazil.

Having made an investment in Aquiris early last year, Epic Games has now acquired Horizon Chase Turbodeveloper with plans to make it Epic Games Brazil, which will be the publisher’s first studio in Latin America following its investment in Aquiris early last year.

Latin America is the first continent in which Epic Games has opened a studio

Based in Porto Alegre, Aquiris is one of the leading software developers and is known for its Horizon Chase series and Wonderbox games.

It was founded in 2007 and has its headquarters there. The developer will now become the cornerstone of Epic Games Brazil, which will serve as the publisher’s first studio in Latin America, and will create “groundbreaking content and immersive social experiences” for Fortnite, after Epic Games acquired the developer.

Bringing Wonderbox and Horizon Chase 2 to Epic Games builds upon our success in creating memorable titles such as Looney Tunes World of Mayhem, Horizon Chase 2 and Wonderbox, all of which we will continue to publish in the future.

The Aquiris CEO and Epic Games Brazil studio director, Mauricio Longoni, expressed his delight at the opportunity to leverage his experience in the game development with Unreal Engine in order to contribute to the future of Fortnite.”

It is no secret that Aquiris has been leading the way in game development in Brazil and Latin America, and by joining Epic Games we will be able to showcase our region’s developers to the whole industry.”

As it sounds, we should not hold our breath expecting any more Horizon Chase games to come out in the near future, as the new studio will be supporting Fortnite in the near future.

In spite of the fact that Horizon Chase 2 is supposedly coming to Xbox this year, no information has been released about the port, so we will remain hopeful that we will still be able to enjoy it this year.
