PATTAYA – A wave of shock has rippled through the coastal city of Pattaya following the formal charging of a local police officer in connection with a fatal shooting on the world-famous Walking Street. The incident has raised serious questions about police conduct and the safety of one of Thailand’s most prominent nightlife districts.
Authorities confirmed that the suspect, identified as a serving officer with the Pattaya City Police, was taken into custody shortly after the altercation. The victim, a resident, was pronounced dead at the scene despite the efforts of first responders.
According to eyewitness reports and preliminary investigations by the Royal Thai Police, the incident began as a verbal dispute behind a cannabis shop on Walking Street. Witnesses described a tense atmosphere that quickly escalated when the officer allegedly drew his service weapon.
