2022-2023 EPL First Mid-Week Games Top Six Picks and How They Played Out

The EPL Premier League schedule for new campaigns comes out weeks before the season starts.

And we’re already witnessing another exciting EPL season. Teams are already getting their Premier League odds, and the battle line is drawn.

We are set to enjoy games from EPL teams every weekend, but with the year going differently, we should expect more midweek games.

These EPL midweek games will help complete the league’s first leg phase quickly.

As a result, every team’s manager must find ways to manage their players to avoid them getting injured.

It would be a challenging task that only top coaches with massive depth would be able to achieve.

We’ve already witnessed this new campaign’s first set of EPL midweek games, where every team played on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

We had some exciting matchups in these games, and we would love to see how they went with these teams giving their all to secure all three points.

Leeds United vs. Everton

Leeds United and Everton played on the 30th of August, where both teams fought hard, but it ended in them sharing one point.

Before the match, Leeds United had already won two matches, lost one, and drew one, which earned them seven points already.

On the other hand, Everton had lost two matches and drawn two, which earned them two points.

However, during their game, Everton took the lead at halftime when Anthony Gordin scored in 17 minutes.

Not long after they began the second half, Leeds United equalized from the goal scored by Luis Sinisterra.

Also, Demarai Gray scored 66 minutes, but unfortunately, it was canceled by the VAR.

Arsenal vs. Aston Villa

This match was another challenging and exciting game for Arsenal. They are currently one of the teams in the EPL dominating opponents.

They played their midweek game on the 31st of August, ending the month with another victory over Aston Villa.

Arsenal teams are experiencing a good time under Mikel Arteta, but the season is still fresh to know what will happen next.

Arsenal and Aston Villa faced each other again, and the game ended 2-1 to favor Arsenal. Arsenal Gabriel Jesus scored the first goal for his teammates to take the lead at halftime.

Aston Villa Douglas Luiz equalized in the 74th minute, and, fortunately for Arsenal, Gabriel Martinelli scored three minutes later, and Arsenal won the game on a 2-1.

Liverpool vs. Newcastle United

Another challenging and exciting match was Liverpool Vs. Newcastle United. The game was tricky for the Liverpool teams, but they were lucky to win the match.

Newcastle United took the lead when Alexander Isak scored 38th to end halftime. Liverpool dominated the game and equalized in the 61st minute; Roberto Firmino scored the goal.

However, it was already looking like Liverpool would end the game with a 1-1 draw.

Still, in football, anything can happen in seconds, so Fabio Carvalho scored the winning goal in the 98th minute to give Liverpool a win.

West Ham United vs. Tottenham Hotspur

Westham United is one of the teams that started the 2022/2023 season with low performance.

They won their last game over Aston Villa; it was their first League win.

On the other hand, Tottenham Hotspur has started the league with a good performance and is sitting in the top three of the league standings.

However, in their midweek game, West Ham faced Tottenham Hotspur, a top London derby game between Spurs and the Hammers.

The game ended in a 1-1 draw as Thilo Kehrer scored an own goal to give Tottenham a halftime lead, but fortunately for them, they equalized in the 55th minute from a Thomas Soucek’s strike.

Crystal Palace vs. Brentford

Another exciting and challenging midweek game was Crystal Palace against Brentford. They played on the 30th of August to make it their fifth-round game.

Before the game, Crystal palace had won one game, lost two, and drew one, which earned them four points, while Brentford, on the other hand, had won one game, lost one, and drew two.

However, both teams played their first game together this season, ending in a 1-1 draw.

During the game, the halftime was very difficult for both teams, which ended in a goalless draw; not

until the second half, when Wilfried Zaha scored for Crystal Place in the 59th minute, and Yoane Wissa equalized in the 88th minute to earn his team a point.

Fulham vs. Brighton & Hove Albion

One of the top six picks in the midweek game was Fulham vs. Brighton and Hove Albion.

Both teams have started the league well, where one is sitting in the top five, and the other is in the top ten.

Before the game, Brighton & Hove Albion had won three matches and drew one without a loss, and Fulham had won just one, lost one, and drew two.

They played their midweek game on the 30th of August, where Fulham secured their second win of the season.

There was no goal before halftime during the game, which was not surprising.

It was in the second half when Aleksandar Mitrovic scored for Fulham, and some minutes later, Lewis Dunk scored an own goal to make it two for Fulham; also, in the 60th minute, Alexis Allister scored to make it 2-1, but the game ended in Fulham’s favor.
