David Warner Dies, A British Actor Who Starred In ‘Titanic’
(CTN News) – There is no doubt that David Warner, who was well known for his roles as villains in “Titanic,” “Tron” and “Time Bandits,” among others, has passed away at the age of 80, according to his family.
“Titanic” and “TRON” actor David Warner played villainous supporting roles well. He died over the weekend at the age of 62. He was 80 years old.
He died from a “cancer-related illness,” according to a statement shared with CNN by his talent agency. Despite his illness for 18 months, he “approached his diagnosis with grace and dignity.”
Over the course of his career, he created horror classics, Oscar winners, beloved animated series, and a Disney musical. In an interview with the AV Club in 2017, he acknowledged that he left his mark on virtually every genre of cinema.
“I haven’t done Harry Potter,” “Lord Of The Rings,” and “Game Of Thrones,” according to the AV Club. He said: “So I haven’t done those big ones. But that’s show business.”

As a graduate of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, Warner began his career onstage. The Royal Shakespeare Company cast him in several productions, including “Richard II” and “Hamlet,” and he also appeared in the 1968 film adaptation of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”.
Onstage, he often played Shakespearean heroes, but in films, he often played antagonists. The actor played a power-hungry executive who passed off Jeff Bridges’ ideas as his own in Disney’s landmark sci-fi flick “Tron.”
He also conspired with Billy Zane’s antagonist in “Titanic” to keep the central lovers apart. In Terry Gilliam’s “Time Bandits,” Warner played the role of “Evil.”

As a tortured student in his long orange scarf, Warner played Hamlet for the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1965.
Gregory Doran, the company’s artistic director emeritus, said David embodied the spirit of the 1960s. A generous spirit, a kind man, and a huge talent, he was.”
