TikTok And PTA Join Forces To Boost School Safety

(CTN News) – The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and TikTok signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Thursday that promotes a multifaceted approach to digital safety in government schools throughout Pakistan by bringing a comprehensive approach to digital safety.

As part of the agreement, government schools in Pakistan are encouraged to promote digital safety among students.

As well as comprehensive training programmes and guidelines for teachers, parents, and students, the program will also include workshops, seminars, webinars, awareness videos, and many other features.

An official statement from the government stated that the purpose of the initiative is to shed light on the legitimate uses of social media and to address the risks associated with them.

At this significant event, the Chairman of PTA, Maj Gen (retd) Hafeezur Rehman was present along with the Director General (WAD), the Director General (S&D) as well as representatives of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications (MoITT).

In addition to Fahad Khan Niazi, the Head of Public Policy and Government Relations at TikTok, and Zara Basharat Higgs, the Head of Public Policy Programs in South Asia at TikTok, both attended the meeting.

As part of the event, Chairman PTA said that the Authority remains committed to ensuring the safety of digital information and remains steadfast in its efforts to achieve this goal.

As an organization, PTA is committed to ensuring a more secure and safe online environment for its students, and its partnership with TikTok, a prominent social media platform, is a reaffirmation of that commitment.

It is no secret that this collaboration demonstrates both organisations’ vision for a digital space in which safety and security are of the utmost importance, and there really is no need for any doubt about that.

As part of this pioneering initiative, PTA TikTok expects that other social media platforms will follow suit in establishing partnerships with the authority in order to enhance the local digital environment through the establishment of partnerships with the authority.
