Elon Musk Boosts Antisemitic Tweet, Apple, Disney Suspend Advertising On X

(CTN News) – X, formerly Twitter, has been paused by Disney and Apple. The comment came after Elon Musk said “Jewish communities” push hate against whites on social media.

According to spokespeople, Lions Gate Entertainment, Paramount Global, and Warner Bros Discovery have also suspended their social media campaigns. Further, a spokesperson for Comcast, the parent company of Bravo and Xfinity, confirmed Friday that the company is pausing its online advertising campaigns for the service.

According to Axios, Apple’s move was first reported, while The New York Times reported Disney’s.

According to a report published by Media Matters for America this week, the iPhone maker is one of several big companies that display their online X ads next to content that promotes Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party, including IBM, Bravo, Oracle and Infinity.

“We have suspended all advertising on X while we investigate this totally unacceptable situation,” a spokesperson for IBM said.

A request for comment was not responded to by Apple, Disney, or Oracle.

A coalition of 163 Jewish leaders, activists, and academics representing both major political parties released a statement this week in response to Musk’s recent behavior. The statement urged businesses to stop funding X through advertising.

In September, Elon Musk insinuated that he would file a lawsuit against the Anti-Defamation League, which led the X Out Hate group to urge companies to suspend their online advertising campaigns on X. Elon Musk claimed that the ADL was trying to kill the platform by falsely accusing it and me of anti-Semitism.

Musk’s rhetoric was dismissed by ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt at the time as a “threat of a frivolous lawsuit,” who also criticized Elon Musk’s recent controversial X posts this week.

Jewish leaders have asked large advertisers like Apple, Google, Amazon, and Disney to stop funneling money to X as antisemitism explodes on the platform for two months. “There has been no change. “Except for the danger Jews face.”

In addition, the White House publicly criticized Elon Musk’s tweets on Friday. Andrew Bates, White House spokesman, said repeating the hideous lie of the most fatal antisemitic act in American history at any time is unacceptable. According to Bates, he was referring to the deadly shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh in 2018, where 11 people were killed by a gunman who believed in the antisemitic “white genocide” conspiracy theory.

On Friday, Elon Musk acknowledged advertiser backlash via his X messaging service.

According to Musk, terms like decolonization, “from the river to the sea” and similar euphemisms imply genocide. The terms of service state that “calls for extreme violence are prohibited by our terms of service and will result in suspension of your account.”

Greenblatt responded in an X post that Musk’s move was “important and welcome.” Greenblatt says he appreciates your leadership. Musk said his X posts could be perceived as inflammatory during a May interview with David Faber. Elon Musk was quoted at the time as saying, “I will say what I want, and if that means losing money, well, so be it.
