CHIANG RAI – On March 22, 2026, soldiers from Ranger Company 3106, Task Force 31, Pha Muang Force, received a tip about a drug shipment moving from Mae Fa Luang district in Chiang Rai to a stash point in Mae Yao subdistrict, Mueang Chiang Rai district.
The route reportedly passed through Mae Fa Luang and Mae Chan, so officers set up a checkpoint and interception point on the road linking Ban Kio Satai in Pa Tueng, Mae Chan, to Ban A Di in Mae Yao.
Later that same morning, at around 7:30 a.m., officers spotted a suspicious man riding a motorcycle toward Mae Yao. As he approached the checkpoint, they signaled for him to stop and submit to a search. Instead, he abandoned the motorcycle and ran into nearby forested land, using his knowledge of the area to escape.
After checking the vehicle, officers found a red-and-black Honda Wave motorcycle with a Chiang Rai registration plate. A black travel bag had been placed behind the seat. Inside, officers found 26 bundles of methamphetamine, totaling 160,000 pills.
They also found a blue travel bag stacked on top, containing 14 more bundles, or 88,000 pills. In total, the seizure came to about 248,000 meth pills. Authorities confiscated the drugs as evidence and are continuing their investigation to track down the suspect and proceed with legal action.
