Instead of fighting or surrendering, they quickly abandoned their cargo. They jumped back into their small boat, turned the engine on, and sped away across the dark waters of the Mekong River.

Because the river provides a fast and highly open escape route, the suspects managed to slip away before authorities could make any arrests. However, their hasty retreat meant they left behind their entire illegal shipment.
