CHIANG RAI – Buriram United turned a shaky start into a huge night at Chang Arena, crushing Singha Chiangrai United 8-1 in Thai League 1. The home side fell behind early, then took control and never let go, with a second-half scoring burst that showed why Buriram sits top of the table. Chiangrai, stuck in a tough stretch this season, could not cope once the pressure ramped up.

Singha Chiangrai United surprised the crowd in the 12th minute. A quick break ended with a composed finish from their forward, putting the visitors up 1-0. For a short spell, Buriram looked like a team that might be in for a long night against a side fighting near the bottom half.

Buriram answered with pace and purpose. The equalizer came just before halftime when Guilherme Bissoli got on the end of a through ball and tucked it away. The 1-1 score at the break changed the feel of the match, and Buriram returned from the locker room ready to push harder.

After halftime, the match turned into a rout. Robert Žulj ran the show in midfield, mixing smart passing with direct runs and decisive final balls. Bissoli struck again early in the second half, rising to meet a corner and powering in a header to make it 2-1. Soon after, Supachai Chaided added a third with a booming shot from distance, leaving the Chiangrai goalkeeper with no chance.

From there, Buriram kept coming. Goran Čaušić scored twice with sharp finishes around the box. Fejsal Mulic and Suphanat Mueanta also got on the scoresheet as the visitors’ defense fell apart under constant attacks. Late on, Theerathon Bunmathan converted a penalty to complete the scoring and lock in an emphatic 8-1 result, one of Buriram United’s biggest league wins in recent memory.

The win stretched Buriram United’s unbeaten run and strengthened their grip as Thai League 1 leaders. Head coach Božidar Bandović pointed to his team’s response after conceding first, saying the group stayed calm, grew into the game, and set the tone with their play after the equalizer.

For Singha Chiangrai United, the defeat added to a difficult campaign. Mistakes at the back came quickly once Buriram found rhythm, and the visitors again struggled away from home. With results not going their way, Chiangrai now face a hard climb to move clear of the relegation fight.
