(CTN News) – It was announced on Wednesday that Pacers forward Aaron Nesmith has been ruled out for a third straight game due to a sprained right ankle, per the NBA’s official injury report.
On Monday night, the Pacers were informed by that he will be unable to play for the during their home game against the Raptors.
According to Pacers coach Rick Carlisle on Saturday,
The’ second-year player Nesmith has been making progress in practice, but he has not yet played since he suffered the injury midway through the third quarter of the Pacers’ game against the Raptors in Toronto on Feb. 14.
The were not expected to have Nesmith available for the’ Game against the Mavericks on Sunday, according to coach Carlisle, after the Pacers won their game on Saturday.
During his career so far, Nesmith has averaged a career high 12.6 points per game and is shooting 51.9% from the field and 45.2% from 3-point range for this season, which is nearly two points higher than his previous average. As a result of that statistic, he is among the league’s leaders when it comes to 3-point percentage.
Besides being a top perimeter defender for the Pacers, he’s also averaging a career-high 1.1 steals per game, making him one of the top picks for the team.
It has been second-year wing Bennedict Mathurin that has been starting at the 3 in Nesmith’s absence. In turn, this has given more playing time for rookie guard Ben Sheppard and recently acquired wing Doug McDermott to learn the position.
