LAMPANG – A 14-year-old boy in Lampang was injured after being shot in the arm by police during a late-night motorcycle chase, according to his account from the hospital. The incident happened around 10:45 p.m. on Vicharawut Damnoen Road in Lampang city.
Rescue workers and police were called after a passerby found the boy bleeding heavily and stepped in to help stop the blood loss before he was taken to Lampang Hospital.
The injured boy, identified as “New Year,” is now being treated at the hospital. Doctors said his condition is stable. However, they planned another X-ray on March 25, 2026, to check whether the bullet injured any bone.
The teen said that before the shooting, he had left home in Mae Moh district with an older friend. They were heading to a PTT gas station near the Lampang Provincial Government Center because his friend’s motorcycle was almost out of fuel.
He said he was riding his own motorcycle behind and using his foot to push the older boy’s bike along, because there was only enough gas left to keep it moving uphill.
When they reached the Phalad intersection and were about to turn into town, the boy said a police officer rode out from the Phalad police booth and started following them. He said they panicked because their motorcycle had a loud exhaust, and they were afraid of being arrested.
In a panic they turned back into the inner lane on the outbound side and rode against traffic to get away. The teen said the officer kept chasing them, and then he heard one gunshot. He continued riding until he reached the Doi Phra Bat area, where he heard another shot and realized he had been hit in the left arm.
He also claimed that the officer caught up to him and kicked his motorcycle, causing him to fall. His older friend managed to ride away, and the officer then continued after him. Meanwhile, the 14-year-old remained at the scene until a good Samaritan came across him and called for help.
Police and rescue teams later arrived, gave first aid, and rushed him to the hospital. The case remains under review, and more updates are expected.
