PHAYAO – A heated debate broke out online after a man from Chiang Rai shared a video on Facebook, saying his truck ran out of fuel near the Ban Pa Faek police post in Mae Chai district, Phayao.
He claimed he asked officers for help getting to a gas station, but they refused. He also said he was insulted and that the lights at the shelter in front of the post were turned off while he was there.
According to the man in the clip, he was driving a truck loaded with pineapples from Chiang Rai to deliver goods to another province. However, fuel shortages in Chiang Rai, like in several other areas, made it hard for him to fill up before leaving.
He said he had tried to find fuel from Mae Sai to Chiang Rai but could not get any.
Later, he checked an app and found that a gas station in the Rong Ha area of Phayao still appeared to have fuel available. Because of that, he decided to keep driving. Still, the truck ran out of fuel before he reached the station, with less than 20 kilometers left to go.
After that, he walked to the nearby police post and asked for help. He said he only wanted officers to take him to buy fuel or help coordinate some kind of assistance so he could continue his trip.
The man said officers told him that official vehicles had limited fuel and needed to save it for duty use, so they could not help him. He also claimed that during the exchange, one officer used rude language toward him and that the lights at the front shelter were shut off, which made him feel even more upset.

In the video, he said he did not want trouble with the police. He explained that he was simply asking for help during a difficult moment and felt the response was inappropriate. Because of that, he decided to record the incident and post it online.
The clip quickly spread across social media and drew strong reactions. Many people criticized the incident, especially since several areas are dealing with fuel shortages at the same time.
As a result, many online users began questioning how authorities respond when people ask for help in an emergency. At the same time, others called for a full fact-check to find out exactly what happened.
