Jim Hagedorn of Minnesota Has Passed Away At 59 After A Battle With Cancer
Minnesota Republican Jim Hagedorn, who had been battling kidney cancer, has died, his wife announced on Friday. His age was 59.
In a Facebook post, Jennifer Carnahan shared her husband Jim Hagedorn’s death peacefully last night with a broken heart, shattered spirit, and overwhelming sadness.
The woman went on to say, “Jim loved our country, and he loved representing the people of southern Minnesota.” He lived his dream every day by serving others. There was no stronger conservative in our state than my husband. It showed in how he voted, led, and fought for our country.”
Jim Hagedorn tested positive for Covid-19 last month
Jim Hagedorn, who had been vaccinated, tested positive for Covid-19 last month, was experiencing mild symptoms at the time and was hospitalized as a precaution since he was being treated for kidney cancer.
The cause of his death has not been disclosed by his family.
On Friday, after hearing of his death, condolences began pouring in.
Representative Elise Stefanik, chairwoman of the House Republican Conference, tweeted: “The entire House Republican Conference mourns the loss of our friend and colleague, Rep. Jim Hagedorn. Jim was a tireless advocate for his constituents during his time in Congress. He was a fighter. We pray for his family and community. He will be deeply missed.”
David Hann, the Minnesota GOP chairman, tweeted, “Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Jennifer and all his loved ones in this difficult time.”
“Please join us in praying for Jim Hagedorn and his loved ones during this time of sorrow. Jim Hagedorn lived a life of service to our state and our country.”
