CHIANG RAI – Police say a Myanmar man has admitted to luring a 17-year-old girl he knew through Facebook, sexually assaulting her, stabbing her with a knife, and leaving her body on a road in Mae Sai before officers tracked him down at a home near the border.
Police at Mae Sai station were called to a brutal killing after a teenage girl was found dead in the middle of a road in Ban San Sai Mun, Moo 6, Pong Pha subdistrict, Mae Sai district. The victim was later identified as Natthicha, also known as Kung King, a 17-year-old from Mae Sai district.
Officers said she had one deep slash wound to the neck and two more severe cuts in the same area. She died at the scene. The body was discovered around noon on March 28.
At the scene, police found a red shoulder bag containing an ID card belonging to Fatoniyah, also known as Mind. A pointed knife was also found in nearby grass, about 10 meters away. Later, Fatoniyah contacted the police and confirmed that she was alive. She said the victim was her friend, Natthicha.
They Met Through Facebook
Investigators learned that before the killing, Natthicha had ridden on a motorcycle with a male friend to meet Fatoniyah. The group planned to meet a man named Chuwit, who had become acquainted with the victim through Facebook.
They arranged to meet at a gas station in Wiang Phang Kham subdistrict, Mae Sai, between 10:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on March 27.
When they arrived, Chuwit was waiting there without a motorcycle. He claimed his bike was at a friend’s house. He then asked Natthicha to take him there on her motorcycle, while Fatoniyah and the male friend waited at Soi 13 in Ban Pa Muead, Moo 8, Wiang Phang Kham.
Natthicha drove off with Chuwit riding behind her, and Fatoniyah’s bag was left on the motorcycle.
Then, around 2:00 a.m., Chuwit returned alone on the victim’s motorcycle. He told the two friends that Natthicha was following on another bike, but may have gotten lost. After that, he pretended to help search for her and rode with them along several roads without showing any clear signs of suspicion.
Girls’ Blood Found on His Shoes
When they still could not find her, the group went to report the matter to the Mae Sai police. During the inspection, officers found a large amount of blood on the victim’s motorcycle, which Chuwit had ridden back.
They also found blood on his shoes and under his fingernails. Because of that, police gathered evidence and later arrested him at his residence in Mae Sai early on the morning of March 29.
During questioning, Chuwit confessed to killing the teenager, police said. He told investigators that he had lured the victim to the area where the attack happened while riding on the back of her motorcycle. He admitted that he then pulled a knife because he intended to sexually assault her.
When she refused to stop the bike, he slashed her neck once. After that, he dragged her from the motorcycle, raped her, and then attacked her neck two more times until she died. He left her body at the scene and rode back to meet her friends.
Police have taken the suspect into custody and are proceeding with legal action.
