BANGKOK – Police arrested a 34-year-old Myanmar woman after she strangled her own 7-year-old daughter to death. She confessed that life stresses pushed her to plan a double suicide. However, she killed her daughter first, then lost her nerve.
The incident happened at a house near the Min Buri Police Station in Bangkok on April 1. Now, officers have the mother in custody.
This afternoon on April 2, P.T.T. Suriya Kunjaekon from the investigative team of Metropolitan Police Division 3 worked with P.T.T. Prabda Sukkhunsong from Pattaya Tourist Police Division 4.
They led a team with an arrest warrant from the Min Buri Criminal Court, number 578/2569. The charge is intentional murder.
Officers grabbed Nang Miao, the 34-year-old Myanmar national, at a hotel room on Koh Larn in Moo 7, Na Kluea subdistrict, Bang Lamung district, Chonburi province. She had strangled her daughter with a rope until the child died.
After the arrest, Nang Miao confessed through a translator. She admitted to using a rope to strangle her daughter at around 2 p.m. on April 1. Stress from personal problems caused an impulse. She wanted to take her daughter with her in death. So, she killed the girl first.
But when her turn came, she backed out. Instead, she left the body in their room and fled to Koh Larn near Pattaya in Chonburi. Police tracked her down there.
P.T.T. Suriya Kunjaekon said the suspect confessed to all charges. She claimed depression and ongoing life issues. Recently, she worked in Brunei and flew back just days ago to see her daughter.
Stress built up, so she decided to end it all with her child. She strangled the girl until death. Yet, she changed her mind about herself. Then she ran to Chonburi. Officers will question her more at Min Buri station to understand the brutal killing.
