BANGKOK – A 57-year-old woman plowed her car into a 7-11 convenience store in Bangkok’s Phra Nakhon district Tuesday night. She injured eight people, including herself.
Chana Songkhram police station noted the crash happened around 10:50 p.m. on Bowon Niwet Road in Bang Lamphu. First, the car hit a tuk-tuk and a noodle stall outside. Then, it smashed into the 7-11 convenience store.
Officers arrived to find an electric vehicle with Bangkok plates stuck halfway inside. Broken walls and scattered goods filled the scene.
Witnesses said the driver, known as Natcha, sped around the nearby roundabout twice. After that, she lost control and crashed. The injuries hit two store staff, three Thai locals, and two German tourists, police reported. Luckily, no one died.
Noodle seller Chalermchai Leelayod watched it all. He, his mother, and his girlfriend spotted the fast-moving car. They worried about a wreck, so they ducked into the store. But the car followed right behind.
Before heading to the hospital, Natcha told police she could not steer the vehicle. Officers plan more checks. For now, they have not pinned down the exact cause.
