Upgrades Every Jeep Owner Needs Entering the New Year

If you have recently gotten your hands on a Jeep, you might be wondering where you should start with upgrades.

Even if you’ve had your ride for a few years, the New Year is a good time to review your setup and see if it’s time to either refresh your upgrades or add to them.

Either way, you need to know what to look for when you’re setting up an off-road Jeep in 2023. Luckily, the basics haven’t changed much over the years, the quality of the parts to support those changes has just gotten better.

Refresh Your Lift

Suspension upgrades and lift kits are usually the first stop for an off-road setup because they dictate when you can do with your wheel and tire upgrades. Stock wheels are built to a narrow set of specifications to suit the clearance provided by your vehicle’s wheel wells.

To expand your tire size beyond what was originally envisioned, you need something like a lift to give you extra ground clearance and distance from the body to install those terrain-specific monster tires that let you do more in the field.

If it’s been a few years or you’ve increased the difficulty of your overland adventures, consider adding a bigger lift so you can go even further.

Terrain-Specific Wheel and Tire Combinations

The next step is to check out those options for wheels and tires. If you mostly stick to well-defined trails that sometimes get some muddy patches or that have some sandy areas, all-terrain tires are a great choice.

They’re also the best option if you can only afford to run one set because they work on the pavement too. If you do a lot in the mud or sand, you rock climb, or you’re looking to start, then your best option is to buy a wheel and tire set for those events.

If you do all of them, you might even need three or four sets to be fully prepared. It might seem like a big investment, but consider the fact that rotating tires, to keep the set that’s best suited to your current terrain means giving the others a rest and decreasing the additional wear they take when operating in less-than-ideal circumstances.

Upgrade On Your Side Steps

If you’re adding height, then it also makes sense to upgrade your side steps and running boards.

Check out the best Jeep side steps for any ride height to get a sense of your options. After that, consider upgrading to custom power running boards to help yourself have an easier time when you’re getting in and out of your Jeep.

Bed Accessories

Last but not least, remember to check out your bed accessories and storage options. You’ll find a lot of interior and bed-related organizational options from camping-oriented storage to toolboxes.

Check them out alongside accessories like the best tonneau cover options for off-road trucks and see what you can do with your Jeep. Remember to filter for fit, because not every model of Jeep works with the same range of accessories.
