SAKON NAKHON – Cyber Police arrested a 51-year-old pedophile in northeastern Thailand’s Sakon Nakhon province after finding more than 10,000 files of child sexual abuse material in his possession. The suspect reportedly told officers he had collected the files for personal viewing.
On March 21, 2026, senior officers from the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau ordered a search at a house in Ban Paen Subdistrict, Phon Na Kaeo District, Sakon Nakhon. The search was carried out under a warrant issued by the Sakon Nakhon Provincial Court.
At the property, officers arrested the homeowner, identified as Theepawat Phrommueang, 51, and seized one mobile phone as evidence.
The case followed an investigation by a cyber police unit after officers received information about the possession and distribution of child exploitation media in the province. Investigators gathered evidence and tracked the suspect to his home in Phon Na Kaeo District before asking the court to approve a search warrant.
After examining the phone, police said they found more than 10,000 video files involving both boys and girls.
During questioning, the suspect admitted he had downloaded the files through the LINE application and kept them as part of a private collection. He also claimed he did not intend to sell the material or run a secret group for profit. However, he allegedly admitted that he had shared some of the files with friends through LINE on certain occasions.
Police charged him with possession of child sexual abuse material for sexual benefit, as well as importing obscene computer data into a computer system that could be accessed by the public. He was taken into custody for legal action.
