BANGKOK – Police made a grim discovery after a young Chinese man leaped from a nine-story dorm near a well-known university in Pathum Thani. He died late last night. Then, this morning, they uncovered even more horror.
Around 10:30 a.m. on April 5, officers rushed to room 8511 on the eighth floor. P.t.t. Weeratat Niyomtraps, a detective from Khlong Luang station, led the team.
Others joined too, including P.t.t. Suchai Saengsung, deputy investigation chief; P.t.t. Chalat Hom Ngern, deputy chief for security; forensics experts from the Central Institute; a forensic doctor from Thammasat Chalermprakiat Hospital; and volunteers from the Po Tek Tung Foundation.
Inside the bathroom, they found a woman’s body. Her name was Nattnicha, 21, from Uthai Thani province. She studied humanities as a first-year student at the same university. She lay naked with deep stab wounds on her neck, head, chest, and arms. The doctor said she died 8 to 24 hours earlier.
The room looked tossed around. Things scattered everywhere. A bloody, sharp knife sat on a desk near the door. Most chilling, blood-smeared English messages on the walls and bathroom tiles.
They read something like, “I have to go… I really tried hard. Understanding matters more than money.” Forensics snapped photos and collected evidence.
P.t.t. Chalat Hom Ngern, deputy security chief at Khlong Luang station, shared details. The jumper was a 30-year-old Chinese man, also a first-year humanities student. Staff reviewed security footage this morning. It led them to his room. That’s where they spotted Nattnicha’s body.
Investigators checked university records. Both victims dated each other. A neighbor, a Chinese student next door, heard the guy yelling angrily on the phone about two weeks ago.
Police suspect a fierce fight sparked it all. The man likely stabbed his girlfriend to death. Then he slashed his own wrist. He used his blood for those wall notes to vent frustration. Finally, he jumped from the balcony to escape.
Meanwhile, Po Tek Tung took both bodies for detailed autopsies at Thammasat’s forensic institute. Results will confirm the real cause. Officers plan to question friends and family soon for motives.
