Chiang Rai Police Seize Meth Pills, Heroin and Ketamine

CHIANG RAI – In a major victory for national border security, a joint task force of local police, military personnel, and district officials has successfully intercepted a massive shipment of illegal narcotics. Occurring in the rugged border region of Mae Fa Luang, the strategic operation stopped hundreds of thousands of dangerous drug doses from flooding into local communities.

The dramatic events initially unfolded on the evening of May 18. At roughly 5:30 PM, a combined unit of the Pha Muang Force, local administrative teams, and Mae Fa Luang police set up a standard security checkpoint in the quiet village of Ban Pa Kha.

Soon after the roadblock was established, two vehicles approached the checkpoint: a silver Toyota Soluna and a white Toyota Crown. When officers asked the drivers to roll down their windows and show their basic identification cards and driver’s licenses, the individuals failed to provide any legal paperwork.

Inside the Seized Haul

20 kilograms of Ketamine: A powerful medical anesthetic that is frequently abused as an illegal party drug.
800 grams of pure Heroin: Carefully packaged in clear plastic bags featuring a distinct “twin lions stepping on a globe” logo. This specific branding is a well-known hallmark used by major international drug syndicates.

The Troubling Use of Young Suspects

Perhaps one of the most shocking aspects of this criminal operation is the young age of the people involved. Police detained four male suspects at the scene. The oldest individual was just 30 years old, while the others were underage.

Specifically, the younger suspects included a 17-year-old, a 16-year-old, and another male child whose exact age was not disclosed by the authorities. All the individuals are residents of Chiang Rai province, originating from the nearby Mae Sai and Mae Chan districts.
