Twitter's New Per-Article Payment System Is Announced By Elon Musk

(CTN News) – In a recent announcement, Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, announced that the social media platform will soon allow media publishers to charge users per-article based on the articles they publish, something that he believes will benefit the public and media outlets.

It is planned to release a new feature in May that will allow users to sign up for a monthly subscription without having to sign up for a higher price for occasional articles without having to sign up for a higher price for regular articles.

In the upcoming months, media publishers will be able to charge users for each article that they publish by simply clicking on one button, as soon as this platform is launched next month.

The idea is that this will allow people who do not wish to subscribe to a monthly subscription to pay a higher price per article when they wish to read an occasional article, Musk writes in a recent tweet.

“This should be a major win for media organizations as well as the public at large,” he concluded.

On Friday, Musk also revealed that Twitter would take a 10% cut from the subscription fees for content after the first year, but no cut will be taken in the first 12 months of the service.

As a result of the billionaire taking over Twitter in October, there have been numerous changes made to the company’s products and organization.

In order to achieve this goal, Twitter is considering charging a fee for its verified blue tick service and reducing its employee base by about 80%.

During the past year, Musk has made a number of changes to boost Twitter’s revenue after the platform’s advertising revenue dropped dramatically. This led to Musk’s on-and-off attempt to acquire Twitter, which he eventually succeeded in doing.

The authors who contribute such articles are paid minimally in India, and even nothing most of the time. Even when they write good articles, they receive little to no compensation.

It is even the case that a best-selling book receives a meager 10% royalty. Musk’s tweet was commented upon by a user. “And it is across the board…”

Is it possible to have a preloaded amount added to our twitter so that I do not have to worry about 100 charges per $1 through my bank?” asked another.
