The Google Gemini AI Image Tool Will Be Relaunched
(CTN News) – Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis will announce on Monday that the company will relaunch its AI tool that creates images of people. The tool was paused after inaccuracies were found in some historical depictions last week.
In the recent weeks, Google’s (GOOGL.O) Gemini AI models began providing image generation through Alphabet’s (GOOGL.O) Google.
On the other hand, there were some users who reported on social media that the program generated historical images that were sometimes inaccurate and misleading.
In a panel discussion at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Hassabis said, “We have taken the feature off-line while we work on the problem. We expect to have it back online very shortly, probably in the next couple of weeks, in the next few weeks.”
He said that the tool wasn’t working as he expected it to, according to him.
There has been a race between Google and OpenAI to produce AI software to compete with Microsoft’s AI software, which was launched in November 2022 with the launch of ChatGPT by OpenAI.
In a promotional video for Google’s generative AI chatbot Bard,
Which was released a year ago, the company had shared inaccurate information about the size and location of a planet outside the Earth’s solar system, which resulted in a 9% dip in its share price.
Earlier this month, Bard was renamed Gemini, and Google rolled out paid subscription plans that would enable users to benefit from improved reasoning capabilities from the AI model through the use of subscription plans.
