Nvidia Surpasses Intel, Samsung, And TSMC As Largest Chip Brand.

(CTN News) – In Q3 2023, Nvidia emerged as the leading semiconductor chip brand, surpassing Intel, Samsung, and TSMC in terms of profitability.

This remarkable achievement comes after starting from the fourth position in Q1 2023, showcasing the significant growth of the GPU designer fueled by the continuous expansion of the Generative AI industry.

Dan Nystedt, a financial analyst based in Taipei, has compiled financial data from Intel,

Nvidia, Samsung Semiconductor, and TSMC for every quarter since Q1 2021.

The results indicate that Nvidia has surpassed all other chip companies to become the most profitable in the world. In Q3 of this year, Nvidia’s revenue reached an impressive $18.12 billion, with a profit of $10.42 billion, representing a 206% year-over-year increase. The majority of this profit is derived from AI chips designed for data centers.

In contrast, TSMC, the largest contract chip manufacturer globally, earned $17.28 billion in revenue and $7.21 billion in profit. Intel, on the other hand, had a revenue of $14.16 billion in Q3 2023, but it suffered losses of $8 million.

Meanwhile, Nvidia, Samsung Semiconductor, the chip designing and manufacturing division of Samsung, generated $12.52 billion in revenue during the third quarter of 2023, but its losses surged to $2.86 billion.

Samsung, the largest memory chip manufacturer in the world, is currently experiencing a challenging period due to the decline in memory chip prices and the cautious behavior of clients over the past few years.

Nevertheless, the demand for Nvidia memory chips is anticipated to rise in the upcoming quarters. Samsung has made significant investments in enhancing its chip fabrication technology and is projected to secure contracts to produce some of the chips for AMD and Qualcomm.
