Meta Is Removing Instagram Chat And Messenger From Her Account.

(CTN News) – This move by Meta to remove the functionality that allowed users to communicate with their Facebook friends on Instagram has raised eyebrows and sparked speculation about the reasons behind it. The cross-platform integration, which was introduced in 2020, aimed to enhance user experience and streamline communication between the two social media platforms.

Messenger VP Loredena Crisan had previously highlighted the benefits of this integration, comparing it to the ability to communicate between different email providers.

However, starting in mid-December, this integration will be disconnected, and users will no longer be able to engage in direct communication with their Facebook friends on Instagram.

As a result of this disintegration, all existing conversations with Facebook accounts on Instagram will become read-only. This means that users will no longer be able to send messages or engage in real-time conversations with their Facebook friends on Instagram.

Additionally, Facebook accounts will no longer have access to certain features on Instagram, such as viewing activity status or reading receipts.

While Meta has not provided a specific reason for this decision,

Speculation has arisen regarding the potential influence of the EU Digital Markets Act.

This legislation aims to prevent platform holders from maintaining a monopoly and promotes fair competition in the digital market.

The European Commission has the authority to classify companies as excessively dominant based on their revenue threshold and can impose penalties, such as a 10% fine on the previous year’s overall turnover.

Meta’s decision to disconnect the cross-platform integration between Facebook and Instagram may be a proactive measure to avoid potential penalties or accusations of monopolistic behavior.

By removing this functionality, Meta may be attempting to demonstrate its commitment to fair competition and comply with regulatory requirements.

However, the true motivations behind this disintegration remain unclear, and users are left to adapt to the new limitations on communication between the two platforms.

As the digital landscape continues to evolve, companies like Meta need to navigate regulatory frameworks while prioritizing user experience and maintaining a competitive edge in the market.
