Gemini Is Google's AI Model That Powers Enterprise Tools

(CTN News) – Google announced on Wednesday that some of its artificial intelligence tools that it offers to businesses will be powered by Google’s “Gemini” AI models and available at a lower price in order for the company to compete against Microsoft’s OpenAI platform.

It was announced last August that Alphabet, one of the world’s largest technology companies, would offer businesses a set of artificial intelligence assistants called “Duet AI in Workspace”, which would be able to write in Google Docs,

Draft email in Gmail as well as create custom visuals in Google Slides for a monthly fee of $30 per user.

A new version of duet AI in workspace has been rebranded to “Gemini for Google Workspace” and will be available on top of a subscription to Google Workspace for between $20 and $30 per user per month, depending on the features that are available.

The company sells a suite of AI models, including the GPT-4 AI model, as well as image generation software, for a monthly fee of $20 per user, and for companies starting at a price of $25 per user per month.

As a result of the advancements in generative AI technology, companies are rushing to launch services based on it, which is widely considered a breakthrough technology attracting billions of dollars in investments and great interest from customers for its ability to automate tasks and generate human-like responses.

In order to gain an early advantage, Microsoft invested in the ChatGPT-maker, OpenAI, and quickly rolled out genAI capabilities across a broad range of its products, such as software for business productivity and cloud computing.

In a statement on Wednesday, Google announced that individuals are now able to use Gemini within their personal Gmail, Docs, Slides, Sheets, and Meet apps through a subscription to One AI Premium, a service which offers additional storage and features in Gmail, Drive, and Photos.

A standalone chat experience, “Chat with Gemini”, will also be available for Google Workspace users, and the conversations that are conducted in this tool will not be used for advertising purposes.
