Saudi Fighter Jet Crashed During Training, Tragically Killing 2 Crew Members.
(CTN News) – The defense ministry has confirmed that a Saudi Air Force jet crashed during a training exercise in the eastern part of the country, resulting in the tragic loss of both crew members.
The incident occurred at King Abdulaziz Air Base in Dhahran while the aircraft was engaged in a routine training mission.
This information was provided by Brigadier General Turki al-Maliki, the spokesperson for the defense ministry, and was published by the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA). It is worth noting that this crash follows a similar incident five months ago,
In the training area of an air base located in Khamis Mushait city, an additional F-15SA fighter aircraft met with a crash, leading to the unfortunate loss of two lives.
An investigation has been launched by Prime Minister Maliki to determine the cause of the recent F-15 aircraft accident, which is significant due to the aircraft’s importance in the Saudi-US relationship.
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency had previously highlighted the importance of the F-15 in enhancing Saudi Arabia’s air force capability and acting as a deterrent against regional threats.
The F-15 has played a crucial role in strengthening the military partnership between Saudi Arabia and the United States, providing the Saudi air force with a significant advantage. Both countries are keen to determine the cause of the accident and prevent future incidents, as the safety and operational effectiveness of the F-15 are of utmost importance.
It is expected that both nations will work closely together to address any concerns and maintain the F-15’s status as a vital asset in the region.
