Jim Irsay Found Unresponsive At Home In 'Suspected Overdose' Last Month

(CTN News) – An incident occurred last month at Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay’s Indiana home.

TMZ Sports reported Wednesday that police were called to Jim Irsay home around 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 8 and found the billionaire unresponsive and cold, as authorities described a “suspected overdose,” according to police documents.

TMZ Sports reports that after Narcan was used on Jim Irsay, he “responded slightly.” Paramedics arrived to assist. The authorities wrote that a list of the medications Irsay took was provided, but it wasn’t clear what he had in his system before they arrived. “Overdose/poisoning” and “overdose” were listed as descriptions of the incident.

Narcan was administered after officers found Jim Irsay struggling to breathe, according to TMZ Sports. He was saved by paramedics after they arrived. The authorities provided a list of medications Jim Irsay had taken, but it was unclear what he had in him before they arrived. An “overdose” and “overdose/poisoning” were reportedly listed as causes of the incident.

A November interview with Andrea Kremer on “Real Sports” focused on Irsay. In the interview, he said he has been to rehab “at least 15 times.” But the near-death experience changed everything for him.

During detox, he mixed multiple drugs that he did not know anything about. “So all of a sudden, I start slurring my words. And then I stop breathing. And they revive me, and the doctor says, ‘Jim, you’re one lucky man because I had virtually signed the death certificate’.”

In December, Irsay told The Associated Press he had experience at hell’s gates as a result of his addiction issues. It is the first time he has spoken about a near-death experience in this “Real Sports” interview.

It was evident during Jim Irsay time as Colts owner that he struggled with addiction. His arrest and charges of driving under the influence, as well as four felony counts of possession of controlled substances, led him to check himself into rehab in 2014.

In addition to prescription drugs, Jim Irsay had more than $29,000 in cash on him when he was pulled over by police.

Irsay pleaded guilty to a DUI, despite the dismissal of the felony charges. His license was suspended for one year as a result of the DUI conviction.
