(CTN News) – China’s foreign minister told his Ukrainian counterpart Sunday that Beijing does not sell lethal weapons to Russia.
The foreign ministry reported that Wang Yi informed Dmytro Kuleba that “China does not exploit the situation or sell lethal weapons to conflict zones” during a meeting in Munich on Saturday.
It has been criticized for its refusal to condemn Moscow for its offensive in the Ukraine conflict despite the fact that China claims to be a neutral party in the conflict.
In recent years, China and Russia have increased their economic and diplomatic cooperation, and their strategic partnership has only intensified since Moscow invaded Ukraine.
There have been accusations that Beijing supplies lethal weapons to Russia, charges that Beijing has always denied.
It is hope that China-Ukraine relations will continue to develop normally and benefit the two countries, regardless of changes in the international situation, Wang was quoted as saying by Kuleba in the ministry’s press release.
Once again, I want to thank Ukraine for its assistance in evacuating the Chinese people under emergency conditions. There will never be a time when Chinese people forget that.”
It was noted in the readout that Wang emphasized that China adhered to a political solution to flashpoint issues and emphasized the importance of promoting peace talks.
Wang assured Kuleba that he would continue to play a constructive role in bringing an early end to the war and restoring peace in the region.
The Chinese government will not give up its efforts, even if there is only a glimmer of hope for peace.
