CHIANG RAI – The superintendent of Chiang Rai City Police Station has ordered traffic officers and patrol units to urgently monitor key areas after large crowds of residents lined up to refuel.
In many parts of the city, vehicle queues stretched for kilometers and began affecting major roads, especially around Den Ha Intersection and the Lang Por Khun area.
On March 25, 2026, reporters said people across Chiang Rai continued driving to gas stations to wait for fuel. As a result, long lines formed at many locations and caused heavy traffic on main roads, particularly in downtown Chiang Rai.
Because of that, Chiang Rai City Police sent traffic officers to the scene to help manage the situation.
Under the direction of Pol. Col. Kriangsak Tongsiri, superintendent of Mueang Chiang Rai Police Station, traffic police and patrol officers were assigned to busy fuel stations where many residents were gathering. The goal was to reduce congestion and limit the impact on people using the roads nearby.
At 5:45 p.m., traffic police officers were deployed to the PTT station at the Den Ha branch. They placed traffic cones to organize vehicles waiting for fuel and arranged the space both inside and in front of the station, so traffic on both lanes of the main road could keep moving.
Later, at 7:00 p.m., patrol unit Yothin 301 moved in to manage traffic at the PTT station near Lang Por Khun. The station was still offering Gasohol 95 and diesel, so drivers continued arriving and lining up to refuel.
Field reports said several gas stations across Chiang Rai saw long lines of cars and motorcycles from the afternoon into the evening. In some places, the queues extended for several kilometers. Many residents were worried about fuel distribution and wanted to store enough fuel for daily use.
Traffic police asked the public to follow officers’ instructions closely, avoid blocking station entrances and exits, and not park in double rows. These steps will help keep traffic moving in Chiang Rai’s city area during this period of high fuel demand.
