NA PHO, Thailand — A 67-year-old father confessed to local police on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, that he killed his son with a hatchet at their rubber plantation home in Nakhon Si Thammarat province.
Police investigators say the father, identified only as Mr. Nob, admitted to the crime after hours of questioning. The incident occurred late Tuesday night while the victim, 40-year-old Passakorn, was sleeping in a small hut behind the family residence.
Local police from the Thung Song station arrived at the scene early Wednesday morning. They found the body of Passakorn on a raised wooden platform in a rubber plantation located in Moo 3, Na Pho Subdistrict. According to reports from Thairath, the victim had suffered severe head injuries.
Investigators initially noted several suspicious details at the scene. While neighbors described Passakorn as a hard-working man who was well-liked in the community, they also pointed to a history of domestic tension. Police quickly identified Mr. Nob as a person of interest when his initial statements appeared inconsistent with the evidence found at the home.
Motive Rooted in Family Conflict
During the interrogation, Mr. Nob reportedly broke down and admitted to the killing. He told investigators that he acted out of a long-standing resentment toward his son. He claimed that Passakorn had physically assaulted him in the past, leading to a build-up of anger that he could no longer contain.
“I couldn’t take it anymore,” Mr. Nob reportedly told the police, as cited by Thairath.
However, neighbors and relatives provided a different perspective on the family dynamic. They noted that Passakorn was generally a quiet man who worked as a laborer hauling rubber wood. They suggested the friction began when Mr. Nob took a new wife.
Witnesses claimed that the father often sided with his new partner during frequent arguments involving Passakorn.
The fatal encounter took place around 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21. Mr. Nob told police he waited until his son was asleep in the hut. He then approached the victim and struck him twice in the head with a hatchet.
After the attack, the father returned to the main house. He reportedly threw the blood-stained weapon into a nearby well to hide the evidence. He then acted as if nothing had happened until the body was discovered the following morning.
Police Recovery of Evidence
Following the confession, Thung Song police escorted the suspect back to the plantation to retrieve the murder weapon. Divers and officers searched the well located next to the house, successfully recovering a hatchet that matched the description provided by the suspect.
Law enforcement officials have formally charged Mr. Nob with intentional homicide. He remains in custody pending further legal proceedings. Forensic teams have processed the scene, and the victim’s body has been sent for a full autopsy to confirm the cause of death.
The news has shocked the quiet community of Na Pho. Neighbors described Passakorn as a dedicated worker who was helpful to those around him. Many expressed disbelief that a domestic dispute could escalate to such a violent conclusion.
