South Korean Actor Lee Sun-Kyun Discovered Dead Inside His Car

South Korean actor Lee Sun-kyun, best known for his part in the Oscar-winning film “Parasite,” was discovered dead Wednesday in an apparent suicide, according to Yonhap news agency. According to Yonhap, the actor was located inside a vehicle in a park in central Seoul.

Lee, 48, has been the subject of a police investigation for alleged marijuana and other psychotropic substance use.

Following the controversy, local news sites stated that the actor was being eliminated from television and commercial productions, which he had previously been praised for.

Lee, a graduate of South Korea’s famous Korea National University of Arts, had his acting debut in the television sitcom “Lovers” in 2001.

He eventually received accolades for his performances in a range of characters, including a dynamic chef and a devoted architectural engineer who discovers his wife is cheating on him.

Globally, he is best recognized for his depiction as the affluent and shallow patriarch in filmmaker Bong Joon-ho’s Oscar-winning film “Parasite” in 2019.

His most recent picture, this year’s horror film “Sleep,” in which he played a husband whose sleepwalking finally leads to horrible events, was well-received critically and screened in the Cannes Critics’ Week section.

In late October, he talked briefly to reporters before entering an Incheon police station to meet with investigators. “I sincerely apologise for causing great disappointment to many people by being involved in such an unpleasant incident,” he was quoted as saying at the time.

“I feel sorry for my family, which is enduring such difficult pain at this moment.”I truly apologize to everyone one more.”

South Korea has exceptionally strict drug laws, and even Koreans who use marijuana legitimately in other countries face imprisonment when they return home. President Yoon Suk Yeol said this year that the country was no longer “drug-free” and urged for more steps to combat drug traffickers.

Lee Sun-kyun is well recognized for his diverse roles in films and television dramas. He was born in Seoul, South Korea, on March 2, 1975.

Lee Sun-kyun received considerable acclaim for his work in film and television, which showcased his acting talent and charisma.

Among Lee Sun-kyun’s notable works are:

Pasta” (2010): A television drama in which Lee Sun-kyun portrayed Chef Choi Hyun-wook.

“Coffee Prince” (2007): He played a supporting part in this popular romantic comedy series.

“My Wife Got Married” (2008): A film in which Lee Sun-kyun starred as the lead, exhibiting both his humorous and tragic abilities.

“Parasite” (2019): Lee Sun-kyun portrayed Park Dong-ik in Bong Joon-ho’s critically acclaimed film. “Parasite” won the Cannes Film Festival’s Palme d’Or and went on to win several Oscars, including Best Picture.
