Police in Rayong Thailand have reported that a 30-year-old woman was gunned down in cold blood while she was getting out her car with her 2 year-old daughter in the back seat.
Pol. Lt. Khacharsin Somabut said when police arrived, they found a white Toyota Yaris sedan parked in front of the single-story townhouse near Koh Samet pier with the engine running. There was a female body lying face down in a pool of blood on the road, with her legs still stuck in the car.
She had been shot in the head and torso. The driver’s side car door had multiple bullet holes in the glass and door. Her 2-year-old girl daughter was sitting in the passenger seat crying in shock and fear. The police officers rushed to remove the child from the car.
From questioning eyewitnesses, it was found that they saw the perpetrator drove a bronze-silver Nissan March sedan, following the deceased’s car to the front of the house. Then, he got out of the car and shoot at the deceased’s several times until her body fell to the ground. Then, the perpetrator drove away.
From questioning people close to the deceased, identified as Ms. Methawi Acharaksa, 30, it was found that she had broken up with her ex-husband a long time ago. Currently, she lived with her daughter in the townhouse at Rayong’s Koh Samet pier.
Her employer said in the past, Ms. Methawi had a problem with her subordinates to the point of filing a complaint.
Initially, the police checked the footage from the CCTV camera and found that the perpetrator drove away towards Wat Nai Rai in Rayong.
Police later identified the gunman as Mr. Sumet Natmanee aged 36, who turned himself in a the Raoyong police station. Upon questioning the gunman police discovered he had murdered his girlfriend just hours before murdering Ms. Methawi.
He told police that he got into an argument with his girlfriend after Ms. Methawi encouraged her to breakup with him. In a rage he shot and killed his girlfriend, identified as Ms. Praewmanee Phunphan aged 29, then hunted down Ms. Methawi and killed her in a fit of rage.
He has been charged with two counts of premeditated murder and is being held in police custody.
