Armed with a court warrant police raided a home in Bandu district of Chiang Rai and arrested 11 people running three illegal gambling websites. Police seized 923 SIM cards, 23 bankbooks, 11 computers, approximately 10 branded watches, a Toyota sedan, a FORD Raptor, a BMW 530e, and 5 motorcycles.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Manop Senakul, Commander of Chiang Rai Provincial Police,and Pol. Col. Ananjak Kanoknaphawat, Superintendent of Ban Du Police Station organized the raid with six police officers on a rented 2-story townhouse with 6 rooms. Mr. Phichphisut (Last name withheld), 29 from Phan District, Chiang Rai Province, was identified as the ringleader.
This operation took place while police officers were inspecting the area to crack down on online gambling. They received a tip-off that an online gambling gang had rented a townhouse in the Ban Du Muang Mai community to use as an office and to open 3 gambling websites called nika, area, and raelgame.
The team leader, Mr. Phichphisut aka Krai, was responsible for assigning tasks to his team members to find customers to gamble online. The police collected evidence and requested a court warrant to conduct the search.
After the arrest, the police officers brought all suspects and evidence for questioning at Ban Du Police Station in order to expand the investigation into the website network and seize assets believed to have been obtained through illegal activities.
