All Disney Channel Broadcasts Will End This Month
(CTN News) – Disney Channel has announced that it will cease all broadcasts by the end of this month, due to an unexpected turn of events.
As one of the most influential entertainment companies in the world, the Walt Disney Company cannot be underestimated.
A multi-million dollar corporation that owns Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, and 20th Century Studios, as well as Walt Disney Animation Studios and Walt Disney Studios, it is easy to understand why the Walt Disney Company has been one of the leading producers of entertainment content, including movies, documentaries, series, television shows, and animations, for decades.
A little more than a month ago, Disney+ was changed forever by the fans of the service.
While Disney+ is rapidly becoming Disney’s biggest content product, with dozens of original series, shorts, movies, specials, documentaries, and so much more being released every month, many of us grew up watching the Disney Channel on TV growing up.
With shows like The Proud Family (2001-2005), Lizzie McGuire (2001-2004), The Suite Life of Zack & Cody (2005-2008), Phineas and Ferb (2007-2015), Hannah Montana (2006-2011), That’s So Raven (2003-2007), Even Stevens (2000-2003), Kim Possible (2002-2007), and so many more, Disney Channel played an essential part in the childhoods of millions of fans throughout the world.
Unfortunately, there has been recent news that Disney Channel will cease its broadcasts in Russia starting on December 14, 2022, due to a change in government policies.
The Russian children’s channel “Solntse”, which means “sun” in Russian, will replace Disney Channel by a cable channel called “Disney Channel – Children’s,” as per the report. According to the report, the reason for the cease of operations was not mentioned in any detail.
It is unfortunate that the Disney Channel has been canceled as The Walt Disney Company has just revealed eye-watering news about their upcoming streaming service, Disney+.
A few months ago, The Walt Disney Company announced a halt on all Russian releases in response to the “unprovoked invasion” of Ukraine, which may have played a role in the development of this decision.
In addition to content and product licensing, some channels reported that it would take some time before they would be able to pause their operations due to contractual complexities.
Also, Disney+, The Walt Disney Company’s streaming service, is currently unavailable in Russia, which means that Disney fans living in this country are going to face a significant challenge to enjoy content released by the company if they wish to do so.
