Alibaba’s Dubai Pavilion Promotes UAE-Made Products
(CTN News) – There are nearly 15,000 UAE products available on the exclusive Dubai Pavilion on Alibaba.com, the world’s largest ecommerce site.
A government press release said the Dubai Pavilion promoted nearly 15,000 unique UAE products through a strategic partnership between Dubai Economic Development Corporation (DEDC), an economic development unit within the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), and Alibaba Group.
The exposure and opportunities provided by this were significant for local businesses.
The Dubai Pavilion is in accordance with the Dubai Economic Agenda, D33, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in order to accelerate the development of the UAE’s e-commerce economy, enhance the competitiveness of its manufacturing and export sectors, and ensure Dubai remains at the forefront of innovation and technology.
“We are delighted with the overwhelming response to the Dubai Pavilion on Alibaba.com, exceeding our initial expectations and positioning it as a pivotal initiative in driving digital transformation in Dubai, as well as cementing the presence of local companies in the e-commerce industry,” said Mohammed Ali Al Kamali, COO of Manufacturing & Export Development at DEDC.
The strategic partnership we have forged with Alibaba Group is a testament to our focus on supporting the key objectives of the D33 Agenda, including increasing Dubai’s foreign trade and exports as well as contributing to the digital transformation of the city.
Moreover, the platform serves to reflect our commitment to facilitating the international expansion of local companies, including both manufacturers and SMEs, as well as connecting them with new and existing customers across multiple markets through the platform.
As part of the Dubai Pavilion, UAE manufacturers and SMEs will be able to benefit from comprehensive business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce opportunities offered on Alibaba’s platform, which boasts more than 300 million registered buyers, including 26 million active buyers from 200 countries.
It is stated in the release that Alibaba.com is going to provide extensive training and support to companies in order to assist them in leveraging online platforms and enhancing their export businesses in the most efficient manner.
