Previously With Credit Suisse, Fernández Joins Centerview Partners
(CTN News) – The former co-head of Credit Suisse’s financial institutions group in Europe has joined boutique Center view Partners as it expands its capabilities in the region.
As a result of an exodus of senior dealmakers from the Swiss bank in October, Israel Fernández has been appointed a partner at the boutique, according to people familiar with the matter. In addition, he has updated his LinkedIn profile in order to reflect his new position.
In 2021, Fernández was hired by Credit Suisse after Jefferies poached the Swiss bank’s senior financial institutions group team for both Europe and the United States. He was previously employed by Deutsche Bank.
As co-leader of Credit Suisse’s European FIG team alongside Julien Lamm,
Fernández has joined UBS’s dealmaking team in Paris. A specialist in insurance, Kristian Triggle, has also joined UBS. It is the only member of the European FIG team who has made the switch.
Upon joining Centerview Partners, Fernández will be reunited with Tadhg Flood, who co-led Deutsche Bank’s financial institutions group in Emea before moving to the boutique.
After the collapse of Archegos Capital, a family office owned by a group of family members, Credit Suisse’s FIG team suffered an exodus of senior dealmakers in 2021, who were snapped up by Jefferies, amid dislocation at the bank following the failure of Archegos Capital.
As a result, the team led by Armando Rubio-Alvarez moved to a US bank when he was in Europe.
Almost immediately after Credit Suisse Citigroup was acquired by UBS in a deal worth $3.25 billion, several banks including Deutsche Bank, Jefferies, Citigroup, and Santander have been actively recruiting for senior dealmakers at the Swiss bank.
