(CTN News) – CITGO Petroleum Corp. has generously granted $100,000 to support SBP’s Opportunity Housing program.
This funding will be utilized to install solar panels for the Tabor Street Apartments, a sustainable housing development created for vulnerable residents in Houston, Texas.
According to CITGO’s chief operating officer and executive vice president, Edgar Rincon, this collaboration with SBP aims to enhance the resilience of the Houston community by providing an affordable and sustainable energy source.
Rincon further emphasized that this project exemplifies CITGO’s core values and aligns with their ongoing efforts to promote energy efficiency within their facilities.
Situated in the heart of the Houston Heights Neighborhood, the Tabor Street Apartments consist of seven units. These apartments have been thoughtfully designed to offer resilient, sustainable, and affordable housing options for individuals in a neighborhood that boasts numerous amenities.
The project is a result of a partnership between SBP and the City of Houston Housing and Community Development Department (HCDD), specifically addressing the need for middle housing.
This type of housing refers to small-scale rentals that seamlessly integrate into high-opportunity neighborhoods.
The Tabor Street Apartments construction is currently underway and is scheduled to be finished by early 2024. This building will be designated as ENERGY STAR and will stand as one of the few IBHS-FORTIFIED multi-family buildings in Texas.
