TikTok Creators Can Now Get Paid With a $6 Million Fund

(CTN News) – In an incentive fund set up by TikTok, creators who come up with popular effects on the platform will be rewarded for those who do so, with the platform creating an incentive fund for those who make these effects popular on the platform.

As part of TikTok’s commitment to paying its creators, who use the platform’s Effect House tool to create augmented reality effects that are widely used, the platform has created the Effect Creator Rewards program to reward those who create these effects.

The fund is expected to be accessed by a small number of countries at the outset, since only a few will be eligible to access it. According to TikTok, it has been confirmed by TechCrunch that the app is eligible for downloading in the US, UK, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain.

Currently, creators will only be able to earn money from their creations if their effects meet quite a high threshold, which means at the beginning they will have to achieve quite a high engagement threshold before they are eligible to earn money from them.

There will be a $700 payment for each effect used in 500,000 unique videos within the first 90 days after the video has been published as a reward for the creators for the time being.

As a reward, the creator will be able to earn $140 for every 100,000 videos that are uploaded with the effect within the same time frame. Having to meet such a high bar for such a small payment is quite challenging.

There are other programs that TikTok has put in place to reward creators, such as the $1 billion creator fund, but many content creators have complained about the low payouts that are offered by the platform.

Hank Green, a TikTok creator, estimated early last year that he was earning around 2.5 cents for every 1,000 views he received on TikTok.

Several other prominent creators, including a YouTube megastar known as Mr. Beast, have also posted evidence of their paltry TikTok earnings.

Apparently in response to those complaints, TikTok has recently revamped the creator fund as part of an effort called the Creativity Program in order to address those concerns.

For now, TikTok has announced that they will be introducing a new program aimed at providing creators with a “higher average gross revenue for qualified video views.” This program will be available in the US, France and Brazil.
